Tour Volendam and Marken!
Holland Tour Guides will take you to the beautiful fishing village Volendam, located at the former Zuyder Zee and famous because of her eel, dialect and traditional costumes. But of course also because of musical artists like the Cats, BZN and Jan Smit.
Join us and walk over the Dijk (dike), where a lot of men from Volendam proposed their girls and where the authentic people from Volendam still wear traditional costumes. Admire the activity in the harbour and taste the eel from the IJsselmeer: fresh fish out of the water straight on your plate. If you would like, you can take visit a smokehouse and see for yourself how eel is smoked.
Our guide will tell you everything about the history of the old fishing village and about her population and will lead you through the Labyrinth behind the harbour; it is called a Labyrinth because of her jumble of very narrow streets. We will also visit an authentic cheese farm where you can see how cheese used to be made.
