Holland Tour Guides invites you in Haarlem, one of the nicest old Dutch cities of the country. You can already recognize the special city silhouette around the Grote or St. Bavokerk (church) from far; just like you already could ages ago!
We will take you to the well-preserved old city centre, the narrow streets around the Grote Kerk (church) and at the Botermarkt. Haarlem is listed in the top 5 of cities with the most monuments and we would love to show them to you! We walk along the many beautiful old inheritances which Haarlem has. Our competent guides will tell you all kinds of interesting stories and anecdotes about the history of this city.
If you want to, we can visit one of the many museums in Haarlem. And if we may choose, we would definitely visit the Teylers Museum. This is the oldest museum of the Netherlands and it has special collections in the field of art and science. Or we could visit the Frans Hals museum, with art of painting from the Golden Age. Whatever you want!
Besides the old history of Haarlem, the more recent history also plays a role in the city. Haarlem has beautiful districts from the beginning of the last century. These districts have been designed by architects like Roodenburgh, Van Loghem and Sevenhuijsen and have been build according to special functional expressionistic styles, like the famous Amsterdam School Style. Haarlem also is a city with almshouses. 20 almshouses are left of the 40 which used to exist. Ask our guide about the stories behind the gates and experience the rest in this busy city!
