The old Hansa town Groningen is great to visit and to take a look at. Your best guide is Holland Tour Guides. One of the most striking features of this city is the Martinitoren (tower). This tower which is lovingly called “Olle Grieze” (Old grey) by the people of Groningen has been visible from a great distance for over 500 years. If you want you can also visit the tower and the Martinikerk (church); a splendid view of the college town will be your reward.
Our experienced guide will take you along age-old warehouses, relics from the Hansa period and the more than 30 small estates which used to shelter old people, pilgrims and poor people. Besides the old architecture, Groningen also has ultramodern buildings which, in the meantime, are famous all over the world. We will take you along the Groninger Museum and the Wall House of the American architect John Quentin Hejduk. This unique building is a highlight of the architecture of the 20th century and is often bracketed together with the Rietveld-Schröderhuis.
Groningen also has many canals and bridges. If you want we can make a canoe tour, so that you can observe the city from the water, a totally different perspective.
At the end of the day you can have dinner in one of the many restaurants at the Grote Markt and go over the day again together.
