Welcome in the Jordaan!
Everybody knows the Jordaan area as an old working-class area in Amsterdam, but only a few people know this Mokum district and her many stories as well as our guides.
We take you to this beautiful area and will show you the age-old buildings, which experienced and wrote history. We will show you the building where Rembrandt van Rijn lived and worked and we visit the streets and canals around the Johnny Jordaan square. The man who, together with Tante Leen, was the cradle of the original Amsterdam tear-jerker. If you listen well, you can still hear him and others booming from the open windows and pubs.
You will hear how the Jordanians survived the war and the poverty with the help of their humor and their perseverance. Take a look at the small houses where whole families had to live from necessity. Listen to the beautiful stories and anecdotes of our guides.
Experience the color, the musicality and the cheerfulness of the old and new inhabitants. Enter a pub and enjoy a pure sip. We will also visit one of the age-old almshouses and we will walk along the Noorderkerk (church), the Westerkerk (de Oude Wester) and the gay monument.
Mokum is nothing without the Jordaan, join us and discover it yourself!
