If you would look down at Naarden from a helicopter in the air, you would see the great star-shaped surrounding around the city. That is the Naarder Vesting. With its six bastions, double walls and double moats it’s a unique and imposing fortification, where you can walk on top of the roof!
Tonight, we will choose from fifteen different restaurants within the fortification. So, we will not only taste the 17th Century, but also delicious food!
At Naarden Vesting, you will only find perfectly restored bastions, arsenals and gates. It almost seems like it was all built only a few years ago!
Naarden used to have two city gates, of which only one remains: de Utrechtse Poort. Also worth a visit is the Grote- of Sint Vituskerk; an impressive Gothic basilica. And don’t forget the city hall, that was built in 1601; a perfect example of Dutch Renaissance art!
Connoisseurs, devotees of history and… romantics: they will all have the time of their life this evening!
