Considering the fact that the village of Blaricum only has 8000 residents, there are quite a lot of restaurants and other eateries to be found. Very good news for you though, since we’re going to have dinner in different establishments tonight! During the different courses, we will walk through Blaricum and we will enjoy the different sights to see.
And, we will do this the posh way, since Blaricum is a very fancy village! The ambience is set by huge, rebuild farms with thatched roofs, winding roads, long green areas and cobblestones (in Dutch: kinderkopjes, which means as much as ‘heads of children’). Since approximately 1900 the rich from Amsterdam, artists and celebrities settled themselves in this quiet and rural area. With the water on the one side and the heath on the other, this village is exactly what a village should be; with friendly and relaxed residents and everything nice and tidy. In the centre of the village, you can find the famous muziektent (a small kiosk in which in the old days musicians played their music) and close to it the Erfgooiersboom; a bronze statue of an Erfgooier (a descendant from the people who lived in the area centuries ago).
Class, luxury, calmness and ambience; what else do you need?
Well, perhaps, after the Walking Dinner, you could try to persuade your guide to lead you to the world-famous ice-cream-store, that has been awarded the price for the best store in 2009! What better way to end your tour, you don’t want to miss that, do you?
