Historic the Hague

The old city centre of The Hague is the central point in this tour. We will pass the Lange Vijverberg, will take a look at the old town hall at the Groenmarkt, will pass the Binnenhof (Dutch parliament) and the Buitenhof (square in The Hague). The competent guide of Holland Tour Guides will tell you about the origin and the history of this city and her inhabitants. Experience the history of this beautiful city!

Royal residence 's-Gravenhage

We will show you Royal The Hague, with amongst others the Palace Noordeinde, built in 1533, also called the "Oude Hof". The streets around Noordeinde are worth a visit. In this neighborhood we also find the Gothic Hall and many beautiful art nouveau buildings, like for example the Mercurius building. The men's house and some conventiclers can also be found here.

The Hague for the ordinary man: the Spui

Until the 19th century the Spui, constructed in the 14th century, was a busy junction for traffic on the water; various cross canals and amongst others the court pond flew on it. In the meantime almost all these canals and streams like De Schenk, de Wetering, de Laak have been filled up and disappeared.

In this neighbourhood the first worker districts came into being and from 1600, around the Lange Gracht and the Voldersgracht, the Jewish neighbourhood came into being. Many famous painters, authors and architects lived here.

We will take you along the Dunne Bierkade and Paviljoensgracht, along the Amsterdam- and the (digged later on) Stille Veerkades, where richer people from The Hague lived. Take a look at the Nieuwe Kerk (church), from 1649, and listen to the stories about the former redlight district of the Spui.
